Cattle to the Slaughter.
Hmm its been quite a while since I bothered to type anything for this sad sad blog of mine but today I finally decided to get off my bum and try to at least type a few words out.
Right. Tuesday was the outing. We did the usual stuff. Danny did the usual booting of the ball in random directions with maximum force under the false assumption that the faster the ball goes the more accurate it becomes. XY did the usual blocking and Jik cursed very loudly as usual. =). Dodging the moronic security guard proved to be futile as he found us anyway. However, he did manage to shed light on the fact that we weren’t using the street soccer court and were rather stupidly trying to target soccer balls between dustbins. Right. After that it was lunch. Then BATTLEFIELD 1942!!! OH YEAH BABY!! I had double the frags of everyone else in berlin. Why? I realized something. If there are 20 guys running towards you, odds are if u chuck a grenade in their general direction some of them will get blown up. Right. Forty or so explosions later, the moronic soviets still dashed idiotically towards the German flag, blithely ignoring the great wall of corpses that must have piled up by then. Well. Repeated the experience the next day, where 5 people nearly took Omaha beach from 25 defenders. Naturally we were the attackers. One more shot at it today, as me and Alec decide to mash some more tanks. Unfortunately, the map we were playing was Battle of Britain and since none of us knew how to fly planes, we were stuck on the ground blowing Germans out of the sky and gunning down infiltrators.
Some lessons learnt.
1. If the tank/vehicle/boat/cubicle you’re in is smoking like a crack addict, its time to get out.
2. Wearing a helmet with a cross on it doesn’t mean you’re not going to get shot less often. It just means the other guy is less likely to miss.
3. If the other team outnumbers you, it just means that you’re going to have to pick up more bullets.
4. Big gun> small gun.
5. Big tank> big gun
6. Therefore, if you have a small gun, just get your ass out of there if you see a tank.
7. Don’t stand up on the battlefield at any time. If you do, you’re either a)dead or b)going to be dead.
8. Finally, contrary to what people think, holding a knife in your hand while carrying a rifle in your pack is not going to make you run faster than holding a rifle in your hand while carrying a knife in your pack..
I just watched Star Trek: Nemesis on DVD. Its quite an interesting show which examines the self. Again its nature vs nurture. If you were put on a hell-hole the whole of your life to rot I’d think you’d be very different from what you are now. Or would you? If someone goes through the same experiences twice, does the person still turn out the same way? And if your IQ dipped down 20 points, would you still have the same personality?
