Hey guys.

Haven’t been updating much these few days… guess I had nothing much to say. But tonight’s different. Got lotsa crap to dish out! So ermmm stay tuned…

First off, good luck to Jik and Kiat for nationals. I’m sure u guys will do well… And may you be fighting stupid tyco scrubs for all ur games. Well, that said I just hope ur metagame choices were good. Haha and Kiat I pwned joo for today’s draft. Steal my 34/34 ancient ooze? No problem. Alpha strike. Kiat has no way to deal with hasted firebreathing 6 or more casting cost creatures every turn. Left with two life after a massive beating? No problem. Topdeck a solar blast. Patron and woodcloaker in play. Too bad I was playing the EXACT same colours as Alec cos there was so much nice green and red stuff going around. Hahah. Well anyway pats to Doug.. The Crab certainly ruined ur day, didn’t it? Well better luck next time!

Zixu. Stand rocks man!! And I like Building a Mystery too! Its so hard to find people who have similar music tastes nowadays…everyone’s either listening to some heavy metal or some Chinese or J-Pop or K-pop or even Malay pop. Yeah you got that right man. Malay pop. Haha maybe I’ll go listen to chanting music( a la Gregorian) or some Hindi songs or something. Not making sense? Since when have I made much sense anyway?

Was talking to Zhongkai on ICQ just now… we somehow got started into a discussion of truth and reality. Ok I see some of you rolling your eyes already. Just bear with me man. I thought it was interesting. Anyway, he was telling me the whole world’s one big lie/deception, and that we’re just basically masses or roiling impulses bubbling beneath the surface, and civilization is the veil that disguises this. Everyone lives a lie…cos everyone puts on a mask for the world. Different people get different masks.

Well I cant say that I totally agree about everything. To me there’s more truth than lies in the world. A truth is a truth so long as u believes it’s the truth. A lie is only a lie when u believe it’s a lie. Many people believe that they’re telling the truth. Whether it is or not is irrelevant. Truth is not reality. Truth is honesty. Truth is the absence of deception. There’s no singular, overarching, dominating truth, cos what’s a truth to you may be a lie to me. What I say is truth to me, but u might think I’m just crapping for the sake of crapping. Since truth is not reality, does it mean that truth is false? That the very concept of truth is flawed? Truth can be altered, but can reality be thus changed? Or is truth also deception and falsehood? And that we can change and shape our reality as we see fit? So many questions, so few answers. And the answers themselves vary. I guess it all boils down to individual perception, emotion and experience. Reality has so many layers and facets that there’s no way for us to grasp it. Let me give you an example. If ten people read from the same religious text, there’s going to be deviations, differences in what they believe and what they think that the text is saying, despite the fact that they all read from the same book… the same reality, if you will. There are fundamentalists, moderates and liberals all at the same time…yet their basic starting point is the same. To them, their way is the “true” way. But what is the “true” way… or even the “real” way. I guess we’ll never know. Even in justice there are so many forms and shades of truth all dependent on our perception. Is the pursuit of truth and reality mankind’s greatest folly? We all have our experiences and perceptions. As no two people are 100 percent identical even on a physical level, there’s no way that two people are 100 percent identical in their minds. Hence what’s the point of pursuing reality? We’ll never find it out. All we will have is truth. Our truth.

Civilization… is it simply a charade? At the end, is it just a pretty mask for us to wear so that we don’t disgust each other? What is a human being in the first place? I don’t think we’re just a mass of roiling impulses. The human mind is capable of rational thought, capable of control, capable of planning and sustained creative force. Civilization is perhaps a manifestation of this. The fact that mankind has created a civilization, has created rules to restrict his own behaviour shows that there’s more than impulses…else there would only be chaos and disorder. And to some extent I think civilization has changed us… we are able to discuss philosophy, work with each other, develop our sciences and mathematics, arts etc, and this is because we have become more focused and less primal. We can think beyond our basic needs and venture into something else… for a change! However I do think that many of our actions are influenced by our impulses and instincts… they’re the legacy of mankind’s need for survival. Our need for food, water, shelter and air are easily explainable. How about need for thinking? Need for love, care and concern? Have they also become part of our basic needs? I honestly don’t believe anyone can live without love. Of course, there are those who will say that love is no more than a stirring in your loins, beckoning you to procreate with a suitable candidate. They’ve forgotten family love, and friendship. And I don’t agree love is lust anyhow… lust is a need to procreate. Love is a calling for fulfilment spiritually, psychologically and physically. Yes, its inescapable that there’s a physical component…cos the world and life is defined in physical terms. Your body defines itself physically.

I do agree that people put on masks. No one is truly innocent of practicing double standards. You might not treat anyone poorly, but u might treat some ppl better than others. You will still treat people differently. And let me put it this way. If someone u hate said something to upset u and someone u liked said something to upset u, would the response be the same? I hardly think so. Civilization and civility are the biggest masks of all. Everything may sound nice, but that’s all… If I said “please leave” and “siam”, they’re the same thing… regardless of how different they sound in tone. Yet we wear the mask, cos we’re bound by the fetters of civilization, born into thrall from the day we were born into society. It’s the status quo. No one challenges it. Everyone plays by its rules… or risks alienation and exile. We’re now hopelessly dependent on civilization to protect ourselves. Everyone just plays by its rules and uses its tools to defend themselves, creating a façade of politeness and etiquette to conceal our thoughts and emotions, and yes, impulses. Civilization is one big deception, in this way. Then again, the deception has become truth and illusion and reality are now foggy and inextricably linked. My pity goes out to the man who tries to unravel the two. I wonder what would happen the day that people stop wearing masks and start giving each other the brunt of the so called “truth”. Would people accept the truth, or just create their own truth? Or perhaps they will find their truth in other people truth, and become better people. Somehow I doubt it. More likely humans will turn on each other like pigs to the slaughter, and cover the world in savagery and bloodshed. See how we can’t live without civilization? See how we need lies/truth to survive?

Well, just my opinions….feel free to comment… if you understand… I’m still figuring this out myself…

If you're the day and night,
then let me be the aurora and eventide…

Hey guys and girls!

Haha I woke up at 11am today! No mean feat considering I slept at 3 again last night.
Tried to mug again. Failed again. Fell asleep again. Luckily I covered about 2 lecture notes worth of studying! I'm so pleased with myself! I see a step towards progress here! Tommorow I'll wake up at 10, fall asleep again, and finish 3 lecture notes. Hahahahahahaha. Seriously though, I better start forcing myself to study. If I get retained then I will never be able to face suns-and-stars again. Get Working Chi!

Haha anyway here I am writing on my blog instead of studying! Gee. Well anyway got a few messages to send off before I start into content proper!

Yinghouse- Well good luck now. How r ya feeling. Don't feel traumatized over it... Since everyone's clear then that's a good thing right?

Xuanyou- Haha don try and evade anymore! The interrogation will continue!

Mak- No one will die in OBS la. Geez. Though the nine day thing pisses me off a little cos I won be seeing them around... And what's wrong with sharing juicy little details? It's not a means of renewing friendship, really. It's more of a consequence. And it certainly keeps life interesting! *wink* And u probably know more of this gossip than I do. Ironic aint it. Anyway I completely agree! Personal contact is more important! Its just that in our case our class spirit arises because we have so much personal contact. Having only 20 people in our class really helps in this instance. It's not so large that personal contact is difficult, and not so small that we'll get sick of each other! I wish every class I was in only had 20 people!

Religion... Well its not something I can understand completely. Why and how people can put their faith into something so intangible I can understand. What I don't understand is why so few people question their faith. Or people who tell them to do things in the name of their religion. Without Questions there are no Answers. Without Answers there is no faith. There is just blind obedience and reliance. You can't always find your answers within yourself... and claiming that faith provides the answers without actually thinking about the rationale behind the answers is also not good. I know people who take their holy book literally. They just follow its directions to the letter. These people are, unwittingly, fundamentalists. Not everyone is like that, but there is certainly a huge lot of people who are. Some get so good at memorizing their books that there's an answer to everything in their heads. Events dont even going through processing sometimes. Response A to situation A, response B to situation B. Its like a knee jerk reaction. And I guess its disturbing. It leads me to wonder how many people actually think about WHY their faith condones or forbids certain actions. It leads me to wonder whether people think about HOW their faith came about, WHAT its most fundamental philosophies are, WHEN should the rules be bent, and WHO decides how the clergy and faith is run and WHO SHOULD actually be making the decisions. To be fair, I'm pretty sure many scholars and faithful do think about these questions. But as long as there are people who are mindlessly obeying, a problem exists.

I believe that you don't have to believe in a certain religion to follow its principles. I don't believe in God, but i guess I agree about the ten commandments and I am trying to stick to them. I'm not a buddhist adherent, yet I try to understand about Buddha's teachings on peace and inner harmony. Why should religions insist that their faith and their God are the only ones around? Why can’t people learn and benefit from two religions, not just follow one? Anyway, I still think religions and their precepts are only guidelines. Everyone should be free to apply their faith and learning to different situations differently, and should not rigidly stick to what they've learnt. Rules are meant to be bent. When people make rules, they couldn't have imagined every situation where the rule would be in effect. Ok maybe I'm not making 100 percent sense. Anyway just another thought: Are the people with the deepest faith in their religion people who have never met with trials and tribulation because they follow everything to the letter or people who have questioned their faith and found their answers out the hard way?

Hmm I thought about what Zixu said a few days earlier about photos being important. I totally agree… Photos are snapshots in time. They help jolt your memory. But I still think the best photo album is the one in your head. Its not just still images. Its also impressions, sounds, feelings… When u look at a photo ur not looking at the image. You’re scanning your memory for that point in time where you took the photo, and your feelings at that time, to the people around you, to yourself even. So a photo is not a picture. It’s a snapshot in time. A bookmark, if you will.

Hmm I just did the Dalai Llama personality quiz thing. Hmm quite true though there are discrepancies. Well maybe they aren’t discrepancies after all. As with all this future prediction stuff its hard to tell isn’t it? Hmm anyway most people don’t know I’m really quite obsessed with astrology. I believe in astrology being able to tell you lots of stuff about yourself, that you didn’t know or haven’t bothered to think about, and I’ve found it to be quite true. Of course, people can argue that your life does not revolve around the time you were born, and what if two people are born at the exact same time? Does that mean they’ll turn out the same? Hmm well I think its not just about you…Your birth chart provides the template for your personality and everything, but people around you also affect your energies when they interact with you. Circumstances are also unique for each individual as well. They might be similar, but never the same, and I guess that affects you as well. So while people might turn out to be similar, they’ll never be 100 percent identical. Even twins are not 100 percent identical, although for some reason, many of them are very similar in terms of temperament, even if they don’t look the same.

Sigh I’m so bored. I don’t have much inspiration to write cos nothing goes on at home anymore. Life has become so mundane that I almost feel like screaming. I think I’ll go out tomorrow and just walk around town or school or even just nowhere. Whatever catches my fancy. Maybe I’ll just hop down to east coast and watch the night sky. Or the morning sky. No one wants to watch the afternoon sky. Why? Or cos I’m so bored maybe I’ll hop down to the WEST coast! =P. Or HuaZhong or something.

Will talk about communication and handphones tommorow… going to write an ode to anti-boybandism now.

Hello.

Nothing much to say today, really. I woke up at noon, which has to date only happened once. When I was down with fever four or five years back. Hahaha.I'm never going to be able to finish studying at this rate. Ah well I'm resigned to my fate already. Haha xuanyou and his F O F F score for block test joke. And I looked like a total wreck crawling out of bed. Hahah anyway I ate double portions for lunch cos I skipped breakfast =P.

Yeah, and i spent a lot of time today just lying in my bed, listening to songs. I really like Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton, Avril Lavinge and The Corrs. Nothing that's really too heavy...except for Avril, but then again she's cool. My all-time favourite band is still The Corrs, though. They're really very good. I like the folkish twists to their songs.. and I like their lyrics, and their simple yet haunting melodies. Well, if you've got the time be sure to listen to them! =)

More tommorow...Don't feel like talking tonight...

Hey guys and girls,

Its been a really wonderful day! I haven't been so happy in such a long time that I nearly forgot that I could. It came back to me today.

Well, the day started pretty gloomily. The sky was dark and overcast and I was struck by sudden fear that the reunion that I was looking forward to for so long would go down the potty..Fortunately, the sky cleared up and I was able to journey down to the 6th Avenue prata shop, albeit late... haha but since everyone was late I guess it was ok. Haha I ended up ordering two of the pitiful pratas they had. They are about the width of my palm. Ok my palm may not be small, but the prata's not big either! =P

We then walked down to the bus stop.. Except Jamin, who brought his bike to cycle all the way! Wow... Anyway its been such a long time since we walked up that road... it certainly brought back memories... Anyway when we reached DG's house we all did some synchronized screaming! Haha was it "Open up DG Cow" or something... anyway we made such a din that the door opened instantly =).

Anyway we kinda dumped our bags on the ground and started playing soccer instantly upon stepping into DGhouse. Haha I guess all the months without soccer have made us feel very deprived... After all we used to play soccer almost every other day when we in Sec 4. The invincible attack, the planetary defence! Ah those were the days... Anyway I felt so free today! We were taking our shirts off for most of the match, ostensibly to identify our teams. But I guess it felt really good... the sun on my back, the wind on our bare skin.. the feeling is indescribable! I wish we could do this more often. But we can't. More's the pity...

Anyway soccer basically followed a certain pattern. Ball gets kicked around. Eventually finds its way to Danny. Ball gets danny-ed. People dutifully pick the ball. Repeat. It doesnt matter how the ball gets kicked to him, if it does just be prepared to run after it, cos its gonna go out ;P. Anyway, everyone managed to blast the ball out of DG's house today. His poor neighbours had to help us pick up the ball from their gardens. The one next to DG's house even had to lower their canvas sheets to make sure the ball stayed on DG's side of the fence. Or rather wall. But the way the ball went over the wall was so amusing that it could hardly be called a proper wall =). Jamin was so powerful he even managed to launch the ball into "the fortress": a 10m wall protecting some condo.
Haha the game paused rather abruptly at that point. Actually, there was a timeout everytime the ball went into someone else's house. So we had plenty of breaks ;P. Anyway, we had an Arts vs Science soccer match at the end. Despite being outnumbered 6 to 4 at one point, we still managed to win 6-2! =). Haha. Poor Ywee Ern. didnt play much and had to go. Ah well... Anyway my feet are sore and aching now! Got kicked a lot =).

Anyway, lunch was pretty cool. As usual we had spaghetti. Goodie. I even miss the taste of the spaghetti. We had it everytime we had went to Dghouse. Anyway we were trying to “cabal condition” Xuanyou today about his “friend”. Somehow he diverted the topic 7 times, and said nothing at the end of the day. Gee. He’s good man.. I learned nothing except they’re in cheerleading and they enjoy each other’s company a lot… Oh and that story about swimming pools =P. Xuanyou! There will be more interrogation! =). No and I’m not saying more. You guys always bully me when I tell u stuff. Yes.. you la Alec and Mak and Weili. Growl.

Hmm and we spent plenty of time playing mahjong as well.. haha mak u have taitai-ism in ur blood. Anyway my luck was down in the sewage system today so I only won about 4 games out of 12 or so… I tink. May be less.

Hmm some random thoughts about people.

Yihui- Now has a cool Jerry Chai hairstyle! Wow. Give him 2 months and he’ll really look like Jerry Chai. Hahaha. And he can breakdance. Haha life seems to be treating him really well.

Jamin- Nice glasses. Still as enthu abt soccer as ever. Hmm. Hair’s still the same =).

Yweeern- Still the same! I didn’t manage to squash him today like I promised to last night though! Haha will make sure ur doubly squashed the next time! If there’s a next time…

Danny- Nothing’s changed. NOTHING. Haha except maybe ur aiming got even worse! Keep it up Danny! U couldn’t hit the broad side of a cow =P.

Kiat-Sigh..well i guess i'll see you around some more =). Take care k.

Well… the day was so fun it seemed that it was over in a heartbeat. Yet it seemed to be going on forever.. Every moment was eternal… timeless in its own right. The shifting of the sun in the sky was unnoticed as we once again spent time together. It seemed so much like last year I almost thought that we WERE back in sec 4. All those times we had, all the love and experiences we shared we relived today. The flood of memories was…overwhelming in a nice way…Sigh… too bad the sun had to set… nothing lasts forever…

Sigh. Well we did manage to bond DGCO today! I’ve even got pictures! Haha incriminating evidence, that is =). Well… anyway thanks DG for opening your house up again… Your poor plants are devastated. When we were there were some bushes. Then they got smaller. Until it was more like a mat than bushes =). Anyway I guess I won’t really be seeing you much from now on… sigh I really wish I was a better friend sometimes! Take care man… I’ll miss you…Hope we get to ravage your garden again next year!

by the way i posted our photos in our egroups..go take a look

Reunion
The evening comes and goes,
And in its wake the night wind follows.
Carrying a redolence in its bosom…

The lone wolf picks up the familiar scent…
He’s been living alone for so long,
He’s nearly forgotten what it was like…

Many burdens he carries on his back,
Many truths, many lies, many things he cannot say.
But the troubles are forgotten,
All that matters is the sweet perfume in the air.

The stars are bright torches,
Lighting his way on his dark journey through the woods,
But tonight nothing stands in his way,
As the celestial bodies align in Astral Equinox,
This was meant to be right from the start…
Written in the stars from the day they had to part.

The breeze is caught in his tarnished coat,
Silver moonbeams shine brightly in his great tear-filled eyes.
The anticipation is all too much for him to bear.
The sudden rush of memories, merry and melancholy,
Overwhelms him for just a second,
And he stumbles in his stride…and falls.

Flaring pain courses his body,
The malaise is not new to him,
And sometimes he feels he’s transcended it,
But he’s wrong…the sensation is too much to bear.
Yet the hope is in his heart tonight,
And the Polaris in the velvet sky marks his path,
His white light in the night,
Never wavering, never tiring.
And so he will never waver, never tire.

For he remembers,
And he has faith,
In the depths of his being,
Once lost, now found.
He picks himself up,
Setting himself on his feet.
He’s not far from his soul’s desire.
And on a ravaged plain he sees them,
Basking in the silver glow of the full moon…

He’s been here before…
Once in his lifetime,
Yet every night in his dreams.
He knows every fallen leaf, every broken twig,
For he’s walked it in his reverie.
And he’s seen them too…
Every face, every voice, every moonkissed shadow.
They’ve changed since last they met,
But then…so has he…

He rushes up to them,
His brothers in life, if not in blood.
The longing he can repress no longer.
He's one of their own,
Their hearts reach out for each other.
As if it were yesterday.
The wolves embrace,
Their revel suffused in bliss,
Playing, feasting, ruminating,
content to gaze into each others’ eyes.

The pack that scattered
Reunites at last.

Together they sing to the moon,
Their voices coalescing into a canticle of what once was,
Their howls and heartbeats as one.
The refrain is intricate, recondite,
Yet every one of them is lost in its strange euphony.
For they remember the hunt,
The days spent chasing their quarry,
The times when they shared their bounty.
The seasons they basked in the sun,
The moments of their youth, so careless and free…
The time of their lives…gone…
But there are no more regrets.

For tonight is the reunion,
And for them the day will never come…

You’re still my sun and stars…

Hi guys...and girls...

I'm back in my tangent graph rising again. So happy and excited about tommorow! Havent seen u guys for so long. A week for some... months for others! Yay we can bond dg again! Finally... I thought the day would nv come! And we dont have to stop at DG! There's Danny..Xuanyou.. hmm XY prepare for some cabal conditioning! The cabal interrogator is in the house!!

Hmm been randomly blog surfing again. Seems like the current topic is gender differences. Well let me add my 2 cents to the pot.

Why guys can't understand girls... well biologically there are differences I suppose. Aside from the exceedingly obvious physical traits(which need no elaboration), there's also the type of hormones and cycles that everyone goes through. We guys don't suffer from cycles.. or menses or PMS. And we should be really glad! I've heard some really weird stories about what goes on at during "The time of the month" and it's really quite scary. I remember an article by Tommy Wee some time back on how he finally respects the power of PMS. Yeah, me too! PMS is something to be feared! I usually shut myself in my room and hope the world doesnt collapse on me when my sis is going crazy. Anyway, since guys don't have this cycle of ups and downs, we can't really be expected to understand or be able to even empathize with it. And since we don't know(and don't really want to know) about ur cycles, sometimes things are said at the wrong time, thus earning a rebuke. Sometimes the right words are said at the wrong time. Sometimes the wrong words are said at the wrong time. That's terrible. And this is all cos of the invisible things we call hormones. And biological differences explains why some guys are in heat constantly.

Hmm well many attempts have been made to try to classify men and women and explain their differences. Well, to some extent that's possible. I think that regardless of ur religion/upbrining/social status etc, there are some underlying trends unique to both men and women. However, everyone has their own personality and philosophy, which will further alter our perceptions and viewpoints, thus making the differences between men and women less distinct. And some men are more womenlike in their behaviour or even biologically, or vice versa, because of hormonal imbalances. And some guys just hang around girls more. Hence, we have Mak. he's not gay. He just understands how girls think. For that I kowtow to him.

I never will. I've spent too much time around guys. I'm one of those ppl Chell mentioned...Always saying the wrong stuff. Although for me, its more of overreaction or over-thinking than being callous. I guess it gets annoying when I worry too much, and keep asking ppl if i offend them. Maybe i'll nv understand girls. I dont even understand guys sometimes. I dont understand myself sometimes. Sigh.. maybe i have to be a bit braver...especially around her... Despite being friends for so long I can still say silly things...

Where does a guy stand in this world nowadays... I've been wondering since the start of this year. On one hand, you're expected to be gentlemanly, caring, sensitive, yet at the same time decisive, spontaneous, exciting and refreshing. Wow. That's a lot of criteria. I've been reminded time and time again that being a nice guy sucks. Good guys finish last. girls go after bad guys(they're more exciting...supposedly). Sigh. And I wonder why guys have to take the initiative in relationships... And why girls can be coy and take her time and enjoy the attention. I used to believe that everyone was on more or less equal footing, that girls go after guys they like too. Turns out that even if they DO like the guy, it has to be him doing the initiation of the relationship. I really wonder why. Haha and the funny thing is thats probably the reason why guys say the wrong things and pisses the girl off... cos he's so awkward about starting the whole thing...I know I would be. What, you just go " Hey wanna go out?". Nah. Not so easy chums.Ah well one of life's great mysteries...

One that i'll never unravel. I can't even speak normally to her sometimes... I suck.

And well some people said its always better to date ur friends. I disagree...If it doesnt work out...everything changes...Can you even be friends anymore? I have my serious doubts about it. And em said u might lose him or her totally if ur stupid. I'm stupid. Sigh. Well maybe it's not such a good idea then...I don't know..Help me.. I don't know...

Incidentally, there's a really funny comic strip on this topic today. Just go look at Sherman's lagoon in Sunday Plus. I found it hilarious.

Looking forward to tommorow!

He looks at her in silence...
The love is in his eyes that he can't form in words....
And so tears form in the bare orbs of his soul,
Yet... he does not cry....

You're still my sun and stars...
