Guy n girls.

I told jik it'd be a short entry. =P
Went to nj funfair. very happening today. saw all sorts of people from all places. cj, nj, hc, rj etc etc. so many people i know. cool. Of course, i saw *certain people* acting all lovey dovey. Right, XY? Sigh.
Zixu's class' durian pudding was absolutely delicious!! I bought 2 servings and wanted more. too bad i'm broke. *must steal the recipe*!!
Spent 30 bucks getting this very cute present for someone. Thats why i'm broke. dunno when i'm going to present the present though. must get some nice box and wrapping paper.
Anyway, played the random games. Doug's class had some ping pong balls game. Won some random coupon. Then threw some frisbees and won some lollipops. DG wanted us to win frozen throne for him. Too bad we couldnt.Sigh. Maybe we'll get that for him b4 he leaves, though i think its not very meaningful.

Anyways, in a nutshell that's what happened.

You're my first light of the day come again...

Hey guys and girls,

Seems like I can squeeze in an entry today. Well let the mayhem start.

Thursday is the best day of the week, for me. There’s very few lessons, a lecture, a reading period, and a common break, which allows me to talk with just about everybody. Anyway many small little things happened today, and nothing at all big. So let’s start shall we?

PW. First period. Boy. PW. I haven’t done anything remotely resembling PW for lets see… about a month? And I’m supposed to be the so called archivist. Ya right. I haven’t done didly squat. In fact, I’m not even 100 percent clear about what the project’s about really. I just know it has something to do with some mountains. (intermission. Doing survey now) Ah yes. I’ve finished typing out my PW survey. All this without actually knowing what the aim of the project is. I’m dead. Anyway I somehow manage to evade Chen for the whole period and proceed to do my tutorials right under her nose. Life is crazy nowadays. I have a presentation for GP, PW first draft and homework on top of everything else. Hell is going to freeze over if I actually manage to finish every thing on time. Or finish it at all.

Maths. Oh hurray. Maths= Boo. Boo= slack. Well so we slacked around again. She’s a very nice tutor, always dispensing advice. So as usual we complained about Mr Yu. Incidentally, there was this speech during CT yesterday made by Kenneth against Mr Yu. Something about Mr Yu destroying his opportunities. I agree that Mr Yu is in fact blocking Kenneth’s path to success. So there was this crossfire, culminating in a come see me later by Mr Yu. And Kenneth replies something like “I don want to see you later. I’ll say what I need to say now.” So it continues until Kenneth finally cools down and takes his seat. Incidentally, Kenneth was mysteriously ill today.

Recess time was quite ok. As usual I’ll just go around and talk to everybody. Saw Xue Kun, who forgot his bio TYS and went around trying to borrow one. Well, ordinarily this isn’t a problem. But we must consider that he can only borrow from someone he knows from s7 that happens to be having recess at the same time that happens to be around the benches. Oh yes. And this reminds me. XUAN YOU!!! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO YOUR HAIR??!!! Never touch a razor to your scalp again please. You just mutilated your precious crowning glory. Well, *certain people* don seem to mind, so I guess you don really care right? But its horrible. Change your hairstyle as soon as humanly possible. I beg you. You look damn random.

Hmm after that it was CT period. Mr Yu spent time telling us how to derive the letters in our IC. Well, I found it quite interesting, and added it to my databank of useless information. Never hurts to know more. Then it was chem. Stayed back for remedial. Got off at 2.20. Saw Andre decided to go bowling with him and Kai Siang. Rushed to bus stop. Didn’t see her. Instead, there was Zhi Peng. So just spent some time talking. Then went bowling with Kai Siang and Andre. Didn’t do to well, but had a fun time throwing the ball as hard as I could and breaking a few floorboards in the process. Incidentally, it seems Thursday is Pak tor day. I saw like 5 couples in the short span of time I was at the bus stop.

Sigh. Was wondering why its so hard for people to cry. Oftentimes, there are things that can really get us down. It really hurts a lot to have to bear with all the troubles and cares of our lives sometimes, so much that we feel like the weight on our shoulders is crushing us to the floor. Then you can feel yourself getting so miserable and sad and disconsolate that water will fill your eyes, and it’ll start to sting. But then you’ll just stop the tears somehow, either by blinking it away or allowing your anger to boil them away. But that raises a fundamental question. Why do people not want to cry? To quote, tear ducts seem to have dried up sometime long ago while we built a fortress around our hearts to keep out the pain. Do we never want to show weakness? Then we keep this dam inside us that blocks the flow till there’s too much pressure and we’ll burst out and be swept away by this overwhelming tide of emotion that’s been building up behind our so called safe wall. Hell I don’t know. I don’t want to cry either. I’ll just sit there and stare into space, and those little seeds of emotional truth will never come out while I remain conscious.

The sine curve theory is pretty much proven. No one stays happy forever. No one stays sad forever. Unfortunately, the low part of the sine curve doesn’t always seem to be the same as the high part. It seems a lot longer, for some reason.

Walking in the Dark

The night has fallen
And the shadows loom like spectres
Monolithic thralls of an existence foresworn.
And I can taste
The tears of the sun
Shards of hope turned to rime in waste.

The wind’s voice through the leaves, once
A melodious song, an ode to beauty and life,
Now seems hollow, haunted
A requiem for that which is gone.
The cadavers of trees, once
Bulwarks of strength and pride
Line the shadowed path.

Somehow I let
The moment pass me by,
And now the tracks in the trail are
Covered by a shroud of darkness.
There are false gods
And empty thoughts
And the uneasy beating
Of my faltering heart.
For I’ve been left
In this moment,
Now and never
Once and forever.

Dreams and hopes
have vanished
To sunlit plains
They’ve been banished.
It’s easy to hope when the sun’s in the sky,
But what happens when daylight dies?
All that’s left are
Crypts and cairns,
Barrows and boneyards.

All is dead or dying
In this starless, moonless, lifeless night.
It’s so dark,
How do I know
If my eyes are open.
Or if it makes a difference.

Yet somehow I know.
I’m on a road.
It leads somewhere.
I don’t know how, and
I don’t know where.
For now it’s enough,
That it leads somewhere.

For now,
I’m walking in the dark.

You’re my first light of the day come again…

Hi guys and girls.

I see that in my absence from blogging this few days, a host of historical excavations have taken place. I have been described, once again, as the master of useless information. Well, I guess I am. Too much useful information will turn the world into a minefield of destructively useful information. If you actually wanted useful information, then you would be studying everyday and memorizing textbooks. But let me quote. “the wizard who reads a thousand books is powerful. The wizard who memorizes a thousand books is insane.” See? Too much useful information is bad for you. On the other hand, useless information is much more acceptable. How often have u listened to jokes and talked cock and crapped for all you’re worth? How often have you wanted to listen to lectures and tutorials? See? Useless information is GOOD. Therefore. I am good. Bow down to the master of useless information. Though I’m sure zhongkai has even more useless information than I do. He knows everything that happened since 300 BC or something. Maybe even longer. He’s a walking history textbook.

Hmm was feeling a bit lousy today. I knew something was wrong from the second I woke up in my bed, tossing and turning. Another traumatic night. Sigh. Well, just hope I don’t die tonight. School was quite bad. I just stoned out from the second I entered. Sat by myself during lectures and tutorials both. Spent some time indulging in some writing. Sadly, the time I have to indulge in that is extremely limited. Sigh.

Well I guess I’m a little bit like the black knight in Monty python and the holy grail. He got all him limbs chopped off one by one and still continued to plough on and on. I’m a little stupid about things sometimes, especially things I believe in or feel for. And studying. The problem is that the idea that studying= good results has been drilled into my head since young, and somehow while my results show this is otherwise, I’m still studying. It’s been like that for o’s. I didn’t study for physics cos I thought I was doomed anyway and ended up getting a2. I studied like an ass for chem. And Chinese. And I got a2 and b4. And I still continue mugging. Maybe it’s cos I haven’t mugged enough. I dunno. I guess I’ll plough on. Sometimes it’s tiring, but I guess I need something to hold on to. Sigh me and my lousy personality.

You know what, I heard from weili that Hwachong got 2nd for A boys and 4th for A girls. Somehow I don’t feel the loss as acutely as when Huazhong lost the c boys 3 years ago. I mean the man jiang hong was sung from the heart. It was so saddening and I still remember the scene vividly in my mind. I remember it was raining, and the benches in the stadium were wet and people were staring at the field in stunned silence as the results were announced over the PA like a death sentence. Now. Well I guess I’m a little sad, but nowhere near what I was feeling that moment 3 years ago. Maybe I’ve grown colder and harsher. Or maybe the school spirit that was in huazhong doesn’t exist in hwachong. I wonder what the future holds for us when the merger is completed. Does that mean that the huazhong spirit is going to be further diluted? That all that was will be no more, a distant memory that people like me lament over? I mean we all thought the “huazhong spirit” that they were talking about the day we stepped onto the hill was crap. No. It’s not. Its something so deeply indescribable and so deeply rooted that no one can seem to express it. They’ve tried and failed. Its something that we can understand and feel deep inside and saying it will just diminish it. That’s real. Going to somewhere and pretending to cheer and pretending to care who’s first is not.

You’re the first light of the day come again…

Hey guys and girls.

Been some time since my last entry on Friday. Was intending to update last night but I fell asleep at 10 so I missed out. Sigh. Was tired enough to sleep till 8 anyway. Didn’t do much for the day except go out with kiat and haogen anyway. And they were down for some WWE tournament at serene. Pardon. They were down for some WWE CARD tourney. There.

Woke up to another cold morning. The third consecutive one anyway. The thing is I like cold mornings. And rainy days, most of the time. It’s nice and cool, which is a change from the relentless incineration beating on us. I hate it when I wake up and 2 hours later I leak sweat from every pore of my body. And I love the way it’s a little dark and greyish. I’m weird. Anyways I went marketing with my family again. As usual I stepped into Chinatown market with my dad and bought all the stuff while the 3 women sat in the car and enjoyed the air con and the “scenery”. Then we went to Telok Ayer food center for breakfast again. Actually the food there is pretty nice. Anyway had my teriyaki chicken don and shared some lor mee with my sis. She’s so greedy man. Ate up all my chicken and finished up 90 percent of the mee. Hell I’m annoyed. Hmm and she ate up most of my dinner too. She should learn from my other sister, who only stole 30 percent of my yoghurt. Anyway I guess the day warmed up a bit, which was not good, cos I much preferred the cooler weather. Reminds me of Xiamen. Speaking of xiamen zixu just flashed the hello kitty he bought in xiamen last year on his webcam. I remember he had to stuff it into some garbage bag then seal it up. Haha.

Hmm anyways I fed the luohan fish that my dad is rearing now. They’re awfully greedy. When I feed them a chunk of worms they just gulp the whole cube down whole. And they’re awfully stupid too. All you have to do to get them moving is to stick ur finger near them from outside the glass tank and they’ll follow your every move. I tink I nearly got one of them to do a 720 or a Madonna or something. How pitiful. I imagine its because they’re locked in a tank and cant do anything but swim around and stare at the lonely corridors in my house. What a sad existence. That’s why I don’t really like the idea of raising fish. I much rather have cats or dogs. That way I can go walk them or sleep with them or something. Plus they’re a lot more affectionate than the fish. The only reason my dad is keeping them is cos of the bump on their head that’s supposed to be lucky. What nonsense. In that case people bumping their heads on the wall will be lucky right?

Anyway I was just reading stuff randomly. Then I came across this article about creative organizing some charity sale. Then some pple predictably went there to bargain hunt. Well, some woman spent 10 cents to get 12 items. Another guy spend 20 cents cos he couldn’t get 10 cents change. And yet another guy tried to argue a box with 100 items was actually 1 item, cos only the box counted. What ridiculous arguments. Really shows how ugly Singaporeans are. Ok I mean if this was a commercial shutdown sale at bargain bin prices, its ok if u pay very little. But this is a charity sale DAMMIT. Don’t go and tell me that they offer it at low prices and u shouldn’t pay more than u have to. They’re offering it at prices u set a target for and offer u an incentive to donate. Its for charity you fools! Ripping people off is NOT a charitable act and if u had any simple decency you would either donate a reasonable amount or NOT attend. Hell the guy who was arguing about the one box thingy was disgusting. The hell he’s trying to pull?? It’s bad enough if you pay a lousy small amount of money for a bucket load of stuff but to actually have the gall to go up to people and argue that you’re NOT ripping people off is like trying to tell others that your shit doesn’t stink. Absolutely appalling behaviour.

Oh more random readings. Hmm saw this rather interesting article about some RJ students. Not that I’m flinging rocks or anything. Actually it has more to do with a RJ teacher. Anyway for those of u who still haven’t heard, there was this Indian GP teacher from RJ who was scolding this PRC. The thing was, it wasn’t just the usual “Buck up” kinda thingy that you normally get. He was getting lambasted and insulted with the most dreadful words like “sly crafty fox” and other discriminatory and strong language. And his assignment was torn up. Naturally the student was pissed off and tried to respond, but she just cut across the interruption and continued hurling more insults at him like he just cursed her entire clan and ancestors. The torrent of fiery antagonistic comments did not go unnoticed however. As the teacher did not speak with the student privately, the rest of the class witnessed it. Rather coincidentally, one of the students had a PDA. That could take footage. So the entire tirade ended up on film, and was subsequently posted on the net. Needless to say, there was widespread public outcry over the matter. Unfortunately for the teacher the student who filmed it all did not censor the video. By accident or not, I’ll leave for you to decide. Of course, with it becoming a public incident, Mr Hodge had to step in and send the teacher to counselling. The student who was caught it on video also got into a bit of a mess. Well anyway some teachers asked to comment remarked that they needed to “Rethink now that electronic devices have advanced to the point that students can intrude into your privacy” and another went “teachers are already under a lot of stress. And now we have students with snooping devices trying to catch them offguard”. I think that these teachers are too defensive. The “intruding into the privacy” bit might be true but I hardly consider classtime private. Especially if you’re scolding someone in front of the whole class. This is more of a lame excuse now that the tables were turned and teachers get humiliated by students. The other one about being caught offguard also pisses me off. If you have nothing to hide then why worry about being caught offguard? Obviously this teacher is scared of something. I’m sure not every student has the time to go take videos of teachers digging their noses! But I guess that the footage should have been censored. After all while the teacher was probably overboard, the PRC must have done something to piss her off too. And I tink the guy who posted it online must be pretty brave. He probably knew he was going to be in a sticky situation after he posted the clip, but he did anyway. Well, regardless of who’s right or wrong, from now on teachers are going to watch their backs rather closely. I guess that might be a good thing, perhaps it helps to ensure the checks and balances exist so that people will watch their behaviour. Both students and teachers.

Incest? Hmm I guess Jik’s reasoning is kinda true. Which brings me to yet another article. Turns out that hospital screw ups are very common. They managed to get babies confused all the time. This time two different cases of baby-swapping happened. So coincidentally after 11 years or 9 years depending on the case, the parents discovered what was happening and the error was corrected. Only it’s not so simple. The children have gotten so attached to their foster parents that the separation is very painful and almost unspeakable to them. Imagine if one day someone told u you’re not who u tink u are and its time for you to change your life completely. Now that would be really terrible, wouldn’t it? Yet the law rules in favour of the biological parents, even though they might not be what the child wants. It gets even more complicated if one pair of parents wants to swop and the other doesn’t. Ok u might not see the relevance of this to jik’s article but its more like the separated at birth thingy. And you thought that things like that happen only in bad Taiwan drama serials.

Anyway it’s the end of the weekend. Another week of horrors await me. The bad part: Block test results. Homework. Teachers. The good part: Bumming sessions. Draft. Friends. Suns n stars. Well I guess the good parts are worth going to school for. I guess if everything went too well I’d begin to disbelieve it. Will be happy to see the sun rise and the first light tomorrow.

You’re my first light of the day come again…
