Return.

Hello everyone I’m back from a few weeks of intensive mugging/cramming/stuffing etc etc. In celebration of this I changed my template. Took me about 5 hours too so tell me what you think. =).

Promos are finally over. For better or for worse, its over. Actually, it’s probably for the worse, considering I couldn’t do half of the math paper, half of the chem. paper and screwed up my econs essay. Right now I hope I can promote with 4 subjects. Screw S-papers. Dunno why they make the bloody promos so damn difficult. Its almost like they don’t want us to promote or something! Grr. Ah well at worst I’ll quit school and spend my time hatching ideas to make big bucks so I can retire early and enjoy life. Nah. I’m not fool enough to believe it will happen. The part about me making big bucks, at least. Anyways now it’s time to enjoy myself before the reaper comes to claim the bounty and I kick the bucket.

Anyways in the unlikely event that I get to J2 completely intact, I resolve to study a lot harder. As for now, I want to watch movies( RotK, Revolutions, Underworld, heck, even that BROTHER BEAR show. So cuuute =) ), play magic, chat, workout, read, write, play sports, slack with ppl. Yes and sleep, most importantly.

Quite interesting… over the past few weeks many blogs shut down(*coughmakcough*) and some reactivated! Cool. Good job Kiat. Such a strange thing. It’s almost like we’re taking shifts or something. I’ve been thinking about the idea of blogging. I like writing stuff for other people so I guess I’ll continue. I’ll admit what I’ve written has gotten me into some serious trouble sometimes but that’s something I expect I suppose. Yeah, I’ve considered shutting down but then I couldn’t give it up. So here it is. And I don’t think the reason that most people give about not having enough privacy is kinda wrong. You decide what to write so you’re only telling people what you think its ok for them to know about. So in other words you have control.

Is it just me or are the songs on radio getting quite amazingly boring. I mean there are some nice ones like that Clay Aiken song and that one by Three Doors Down, Here Without You and… I can’t think of any more. Maybe its just me but perfect 10 is getting damn boring so I switch to gold 90.5 or class 95 or heck even newsradio for kicks. It’s surprising how much u can learn by just listening to them talk on radio. Sigh what happened to the times when turning on the radio gave me access to all sorts of magical new tunes. And now that Kazaa is down, does that mean I actually have to splurge on CDs again? Sighs curse the record industry and especially curse RIAS. Music costs us $20? Or it could cost us $0. But no one would be pirating music if it didn’t cost $20 per CD in the first place.

I read something disturbing quite some time ago. At http://www.prisonexp.org/. It’s pretty damn disturbing so I guess I’ll leave you to draw your own conclusions. But it’s downright amazing how a woven web of lies can snare even its spinner, and how fabricated situations are somehow all too real.
Remember I had a chat with Jen before promos…Its so scary how our beloved school-on-the-hill can change so much in such a short span of years. I mean the school I went in during sec 1 is markedly different from the one I left behind just last year. And it seems its changed even more this year. Yeah policy shifts, mergers and all that. But something else. Like we’re losing some of the traditions? Like somehow the people in the school are different now? The attitude? The mindset. It just seems alien sometimes, when I walk along those familiar corridors and see all these strangers, so different from ourselves. I guess it all went downhill after sec 1. When Tooh left. And now the old guard is all gone, so we have Hon, Tan and Chung. And we have Bala. Yes, Bala rocks, but he’s like Kofi Annan in many ways. He’s got the charisma, the wisdom, but yet he can’t do anything much to bring about change. After that every year was just a bit worse.

Talking about Tooh kinda brought back some memories. In my heart he’ll always be that kindly old man, giving us lessons on morality, sharing his vision, his knowledge, and some of his wisdom. In a way he was a very inspirational figure to me, somehow I just wanted to work hard so that we could all get a bit closer to being this “world class high school” thing. Ok I didn’t really understand it but it’s not the vision, but who I was sharing it with I guess. Sigh when all the bad stuff happened in sec 1 it was really quite crushing… and somehow I felt the school was missing something without Tooh. Oh and there was this teensy weensie little bit about him running the whole show for about 20 years. Well, I can’t Steven Koh did even half the job.

It’s hard to find inspirational figures nowadays. It’s becoming increasingly hard to find people that I really look up to and admire. Ok, granted I haven’t really met many people who I really am inspired by. But after sec 1, where we got Mel Kheng and Tooh, and even that funny guy, Lim(the old VP), there wasn’t anyone even close I guess. It’s been a four year drought. So maybe that someone will appear soon. Or perhaps I should just look closer at the people around me.

Its funny how I always forget about the little joys in life. Often times I take so much for granted that it hardly even seems miraculous anymore. But just living to see another sunrise is pretty good, really. There’s so much beauty in the world that I often miss. The rain, the trees, the sun. All these are pretty nice individually, and when stuff blends together to give you nature, it’s something beyond my ability to understand or describe, but it’s so amazing and so beautiful.

I guess I’ll try harder to appreciate all the little things around me…and hope that I still can see them. After all, its as easy to be blinded by light as it is by darkness...
